Many of you will have heard of, and seen videos, of the amazing Dutch vehicle, the Carver {link}. With its motorcycle-like handling and performance, but car-like safety, the carcycle was seen by many as the answer for future transportation. On top of all the environmental things, it's just pure fun {link} !!!!

Today, we see the birth of the VentureOne. VentureOne is a car/motorcycle/trike, based on the Carver technology, designed with help of BMW DesignWorks and produced/marketed in the USA.

VentureOne Mileage

VentureOne models
VentureOne will be available in three different models, 2 hybrid versions and 1 fully electrical.

With fuel consumption of 100 mpg, speeds exeeding 100 mph and some 6 seconds for 0-60 mph, the VentureOne looks really promising. (D)riving range is 300-350 miles for the hybrids, and 120 miles for the electric version.

Factor in a reasonable price (around US$ 20.000 - down from other hybrid models ranging in the 50's), this vehicle may just see a commercial success.

VentureOne Mileage

With today's gas price rising into the stratosphere, with pollution norms gaining stricter levels never attained before, a transportation device that pollutes very little, uses less gasoline and looks really cool is not too much to ask.

VentureOne motorcycle tilting
Driving (or riding) this contraption is very much like riding a motorcycle. It's like riding a big Honda Goldwing, with a Hayabusa engine and a Ducati styling.

Check the BBC video of the original Carver {link}, and you'll see it's really the feel (and fun) of a motorcycle. But since you're in a cage, you have the added safety (and comfort) or a car.

Looks like a winner to me. Where do I sign up? Will you trade in my BMW ?

    Thumbs down

Granted it's aesthetics are much better than the Carver. But the sole reason for for a sporty trike is RIDING. And a max 300 mile range just isn't enough.

Oh, and that US$20,000 price...fat chance. If it ever goes into production it will cost much more. You just can't produce a limited production vehicle for that low a price.

It's a high priced, fancy looking commuter. And that's a shame.

Look at the video... it's FUN, Fun, FUN

Yeah, 20K is a lot of money, but if you're going to buy something special, like the Can-am Spyder, or the KTM 4 wheels, you'll be spending more money, with less fun, and more pollution...

I think what OldGuy meant was that he believes that when the VentureOne trike is available for purchase it will cost a hill of a lot more than 20k. And he may well be right... but sure hope not. The Dutch-make Carver trike which utilizes the same tilting mechanism the VentureOne will be using does cost a lot lot more. So does a Harley or GoldWing converted to a trike... and also the really good TrikeTec trike, made in Germany. So... the advertised price of the VentureOne is fairly unbelievable. (Sigh.)
