Momo Helmet and Motorola Bluetooth
Momodesign, the Italian manufacturers of the stylish motorcycle MOMO helmets, and Motorola, one of world's leading communications' manufacturers have announced today the production of the popular Momo Fighter helmet (as mentioned already on the site on the 4th of August 2003 {link} ) equipped with Motorola's HS810 Bluetooth communication product.

What this means, is that you will be able to purchase, as of the 1st Quarter of 2005, a Momodesign helmet that allows you to communicate with any Bluetooth equipped mobile phone, so not only Motorola's, but any.

The helmet is equipped with the wireless module that sits on the outside of the helmet.

Momo Helmet and Motorola Bluetooth
This Bluetooth module (pictured on the right) can be removed from the helmet. When you have received a phone call in your helmet (or made one), and have stopped riding, this means you can take the helmet off, and attach the Bluetooth module to the neck loop, and continue your conversation.

Since there are no wires leading to your motorcycle, you can take the module everywhere. The Motorola wireless headset has been manufactured with a noise reducing microphone.

The battery lasts for up to 5 hours talktime (100 hours standby time)  - which is probably more than your motorcycle ride... To charge the unit, detach from the helmet and plug into the mains.

Another good news is that the Motorola wireless unit will be available as an aftermarket kit. The kit will contain the adapter (mic, speaker and helmet cover module), Bluetooth headset module, lanyard and charger. No need to use it on only Momodesign helmet (although they are truly cool helmets), with some adhesive you can glue to the module to any helmet.

I'm eagerly waiting for a demo unit. This is technology I have been advocating for a long while. When I get my hands on one, I'll post a lengthy report.

No price known as off yet. Click here to go to the Momodesign website for a flash demo.

I've been using the Motorola HS850 for over a year now and couldn't imagine being without it again. It comes with an adhesive pad already attached to the base, so that it can be mounted to any helmet. It had a boom microphone long enough to accomodate anyone in any helmet, I'm sure. I only had a problem once while using it. It was while I was in the middle of a group of 11 bikes travelling at over 75 mph and received a phone call. I was unable to clearly hear the party who called me, even though they heard me (and the motorcycle motors roaring)`just fine. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to communicate through a bluetooth cell-phone. In fact, the system automaticly increases the volume when ambiant noice level's increase and it gives plenty of talk time. The speaker that 's included with the system is easily mounted within the helmet and works beautifully. Best wishes...
