Helmet Airbag system
It was bound to happen.

Airbags are slowly, but surely, being integrated into the motorcycle world.

Honda was the first, with an integrated airbag in their flagship motorcycle, the Goldwing {link}.

There have also been several airbag jackets on the market for a few years (like Dainese and others)..

Helmet Airbag system
Spanish company APC Systems have over the last few years been designing and testing a motorcycle helmet that incorporates an airbag.

The design involves an airbag located in the back of the helmet. In case of an accident, the airbag is released within 0.15 seconds to the rear, thereby protecting the motorcycle rider's neck and back from serious injuries (click here to see the patent file - in Spanish Open link in a new window.

The airbag system is easily installed, and refilling the airbag is simple.

The airbag unit should go on sale shortly. No price is known as of yet.

Just where any sensible person would stick a small PMR radio; they’ve put an air bag! :-)
